v0.6 - UI/UX overhaul


If you haven’t played Super Regex Golf recently, you’ll notice some major UI/UX improvements from last time!

New Level Art

Each level is now an isometric grid of tiles. While there’s still improvements to be done, I think this looks a lot prettier than earlier versions!

New UI

The prototype UI got cleaned up to the new folders and cards look, based on the amazing concept art of Lys Andrews.

New features

  • Added Undo/Redo
  • Improved tutorialization
  • Added a difficulty selection at the start: already know your regexes? Skip to the challenge levels!
  • Levels can now have 1-3 stars to better express the range of victory states

Now with a special new feature: Traps!

Traps represent common mistakes. Although only the first level clearly shows off this feature, I’m planning on adding more traps in the future. Hitting a sand trap or splashing into a pond is not just an aesthetic failure — it’s now feedback that your mistake is one that a lot of people make, and mousing over the trap will tell you what that mistake was (and hopefully, inspire you to work around it!).

Known Issues / Features Coming Soon

  • More consistency with earning gems
  • Capping FPS so your PC doesn’t try to run the game at 3k FPS
  • Fixing a bug with tooltip displays
  • More levels exploring capture groups
  • Improved fonts
  • Better world select screen
